We have created this comparison review to help you narrow down the segment! To the right, we have the 2020 Lexus IS while on the left, we have the 2020 INFINITI Q50. Both of these models have a lot to offer from capable powertrains to mind-blowing features, and we are breaking it down to help you make the most informed decision. Read on!

2020 INFINITI Q50 Power & Handling

In the 2020 model year, the Q50’s standard engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged that generates up to 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful version of this engine is available creating 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This engine block was created entirely out of aluminum which increases responsiveness and reduces overall weight. Rear-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain configuration for the Q50 but Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is available. This drivetrain monitors speed, throttle, and wheelspin and is able to send up to 50% of the available power to the front wheels for enhanced tractions. When the AWD system is not needed, all power is sent to the rear wheels for a classic sports car feel. The Q50 also boasts INFINITI Drive Mode Selector that allows you to tailor the sedan’s performance to your driving style. Both engine options are mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Lexus IS Power & Handling

There are three engine options available for the Lexus IS. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine is only configured with rear-wheel drive and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The second engine option is a 3.5-liter V6 that pumps out 260 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. This engine is only configured with all-wheel drive and comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The last engine available is a more powerful version of the 3.5-liter V6, generating 311 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be configured with FWD or AWD and is mated to the six-speed automatic transmission.

2020 INFINITI Q50 Features & Design

The Q50 comes in four outstanding trim levels. The base Pure trim is packed with fantastic features like simulated leather-upholstery, LED fog lights, automatic wipers, automatic LED headlights, selectable drive modes, power-adjustable front seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and ignition, a six-speaker sound system, two UBS ports, an updated infotainment system, and a CD play. The upper trims build on the Pure with features like a sunroof, aluminum interior accents, real leather upholstery, sportier styling, bigger brakes, premium sound systems, rear parking sensors, navigation, performance tires, and a surround-view camera. The Red Sport 400 model kicks things up a notch with exclusive features like red stitching interior accents and quilted leather upholstery.

2020 Lexus IS Features & Design

The IS trim lineup can be s little confusing. There are no actual trims but rather different versions that are powered by their own engines. Standard features include dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, keyless entry and ignition, two UBS ports, a 7-inch display, an eight-speaker sound system, a sunroof, and driver assistance features. Many of the other features you would expect from a luxury sedan are tucked away in expensive packages, making it more expensive to find an IS model that meets your wants and needs.

Conclusions

It is pretty easy to see that the 2020 INFINITI Q50 is the luxury sedan you deserve. Not only does the Q50 offer more engine options that are more powerful, but it is also easy to understand the trim lineup and find a model that meets the needs of your lifestyle.
